Our Creative Director Stephanie loves vintage and objets hunting around the world, from France to India to Japan and everywhere in between. Vintage is such a passion that we are now selling vintage pieces at figue.com for our Figue tribe (you!) to experience these extraordinary designs. The word "vintage" conjures up a sense of rarity and even mystery. But what exactly makes it so special? Stephanie tells us here....
What do you love about vintage?
Stephanie von Watzdorf: All beautiful things are cyclical — they continue to inspire you. I love the idea of something from the past that is reborn into the present and pairing new and vintage together. It makes it more interesting. Figue is about "the mix" — of colors, patterns, textures, beading, new and old.
What do you look for?
SVW: There is no rule on what I look for in vintage — I am open to finding anything. It's about the hunt for global textures and curiosities. Always an adventure. If I find a dress, earrings or jacket, it can be to wear, decorate or inspire.
Great places youve found things?
SVW: West African Market in Nairobi, flea markets in England, Rajasthan, Istanbul, Hudson, New York, L'Isle sur la Sorgue, France... I look for everything: clothes, furniture, objets — anything can inspire.
